I am an industrial artist with a background in fine arts. I hold a MFA in design from CCAC (California College of the Arts and Crafts) where I was awarded a scholarships and a grant by the AIGC (American Indian Graduate Center). I hope to incorporate design thinking and development techniques to extend sustainable systems as they relate to design, permaculture, conservation, natural resource management, and art. I also like the integration of environments where technology and art converge specific to the urban landscape.
The utilization of media forms is largely informed by what we have observed in nature. I try to define the coming together of traditional methods in graphic design, print and layout techniques, packaging, way finding, logotype, typography, and branding. I am also interested in the merger between interactive sensors, processing, and natural ecosystems in cities.
My cultural roots are Mexican and California Native American; both cultures having a powerful connection with the influence of narrative story telling and oral history. I also hold a dual degree in Industrial Art and Spanish literature from San Francisco State University with a concentration in visual communications. I been awarded with a BACV (Bay area video coalition) grant when I was out of high school. This grant was provided to underprivileged students of color who demonstrated an aptitude and desire to develop skills in what was then called multimedia.
I have lived, studied, and worked in the US, Mexico, and Spain.
“Anything in any way beautiful derives its beauty from itself and asks nothing beyond itself. Praise is no part of it,
for nothing is made worse or better by praise.”
